Présentation du
sujet
Wavelet transforms have, over the past 20 years, been applied to
virtually all areas of visualization, data analysis and computation.
However, they are best suited for the compression of point singularities.
Curvelets, developed in the late 1990's are best suited for the representation
of line (2D) or surface (3D) singularties. They are oscillatory in one
direction and smooth in the other. We propose to investigate techniques
to compute, store and decompress data represented as curvelets using
commodity GPUs.
Déroulement
du stage
The student will work in the visualization laboratory in the School
of Computational Science. The visualization resources are linux-based operating on Hewlett-Packet
workstations. She will interact with two of my students currently working
on developing curvelet-based algorithms.
Mots-clés
Visualization, GPU, curvelets, compression, transforms
Commentaires
The student is responsible for lodging and transportation. We pay
for air fare, and provide $1000 every month.
